The article examines the phenomenon of trash-talking as a discursive feature in the sports environment of English-speaking countries. Trash-talking, which involves the use of sharp, sometimes offensive remarks aimed at psychological pressure on opponents, is a significant aspect of sports communication, influencing interactions between athletes and audiences and shaping the cultural characteristics of sports discourse. The study explores the linguistic features, sociocultural context, and various discursive genres of trash-talking, as well as its ethical boundaries, gender aspects, and impact on audiences. The article also outlines prospects for further research in sociolinguistic, cultural, and psychological dimensions of sports discourse.
