The article examines trash-talking as a component of sports discourse and analyzes its dependence on gender factors. It explores how men and women use verbal provocations in sports and how society responds to these manifestations. The study is based on an analysis of academic research as well as real-life examples from professional sports, particularly football, basketball, and tennis. Special attention is given to cases where the use of trash-talking in women's sports has sparked public debate. The study also analyzes the linguistic strategies employed by male and female athletes, highlighting differences in their communicative tactics. Future research directions include analyzing the impact of cultural differences on the perception and use of trash-talking in various countries, investigating changes in attitudes toward verbal aggression in women's sports as societal views on gender roles evolve, and examining the influence of media in shaping the public image of athletes who engage in trash-talking and its impact on their careers.
